We have had plenty of excitement since our last posting. In January, Frank Carrano, a Korean War Veteran and Curator of the former 102nd Infantry Regiment Museum, gave an informative and interesting talk on the new Military Museum and Learning Center to open in West Haven in May, 2010.

In February, Mr. George Barba, (below middle) WWII Veteran and Professional Auctioneer, graciously presented an appraisal program for the WWII Veterans Discussion Group. Kevin McKernon (left) and Rose Bernabucci (right) look on as Mr. Barba appraises a beeker.

We also planted some Victory Tomatoes and are hoping to have "Victory BLTs" in August or September. Barbara Brow, President of the East Haven Garden Club spoke about the Club's currect activities.

In March Jody Barr (below left) of American Warrior,

a non-profit organization that sends WWII veterans free of cost to see the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C., spoke about this exciting opportunity.

He was accompanied by Jack Casey who is trying to get every veteran recognition on The National Registry. The Registry honors the service of the individuals who helped win WWII whether a veteran or on the home front.

A Czech Public Television film crew visited WWII veteran John Rossick to interview him about his experience as a WWII Veteran in Czechoslovakia. They had heard of Mr. Rossick through the Veterans History Project as the Library had sent a film of Mr. Rossick's experiences to the Project.

Veterans had an enjoyable time in March guessing the identities of planes and ships from the WWII recognition slides shown by military collector and reenactor, Dan Garitta.
